Welcome to Indigo Roots Textiles!
Inspired by nature, I hand dye new and upcycled fabrics using flowers and
plants that I either grow myself, forage for, collect, and
occasionally purchase commercially.
My fabric paintings are a blending of the organic textures and
colors of the cloth reflecting the beauty, rhythm, and imperfections of nature.
In creating my dyes, I strive to make sure that I am doing my part in
protecting the environment. I collect rain water and use water from
a dehumidifier. I also do not use any synthetic chemicals in my dye process.
About
If you are a dreamer come in
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a prayer-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you are a pretender, come sit by the fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
-Shel Silverstein
This has always been one of my favorite poems. Ask my husband; I am the dreamer of dreamers! I constantly say, "Oooohhh! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we did this or did that..."
I am so incredibly fortunate to be able to live one of my dreams as a textile artist. As a girl, I sat beside my mother and grandmother as they would hand-craft the most beautiful quilts, clothing and homegoods. What I learned from them has inspired my own creations, and I am still learning today. New passions for natural dyes have opened up world of lovely possibilities. I am honored to share them with you.
Come in! Come in!
